Natural Resources Outreach Specialist
Carry out daily activities in support of grant-funded programs that encourage energy efficiency and environmental sustainability; Engage with public sector employees, elected officials, environmental professionals, businesses, nonprofits, and the public, especially those in underserved areas, to educate them about Natural Resources programs and encourage adoption of resources presented; Perform research, writing, editing, and production of informational materials ready for publication and/or dissemination to the public; Adhere to agency policies and local, state, and Federal contractual reporting requirements; Work with Administrative Assistant to maintain a contact database that includes, but is not limited to member government officials and staff, other public sector entities and staff, and general interest parties; Maintain contact with stakeholders to facilitate cross-project communications and relations; Participate in information sharing with partner agencies engaged in similar activities; Provide direct assistance to agency stakeholders and partners; Collaborate with other Outreach Specialists where missions overlap.
Create, organize, promote, execute, and report on outreach events that advance the objectives of Natural Resources programs, to include workshops, roundtables, presentations, community events, site visits, and more; Regularly communicate across a variety of media with agency partners, stakeholders, and residents about internal and external events, opportunities, and initiatives; Document daily and/or weekly activities to facilitate grant reporting; Keep up-todate with regional progress toward grant-specific goals and objectives; Curate items of interest to stakeholders for a monthly newsletter or on an as-needed basis; Provide one-on-one assistance to stakeholders in the form of technical assistance, information sharing, and facilitating connections to field experts; Communicate rulemakings, public comment periods, and grant opportunities to local governments, businesses, organizations, and residents; Develop working knowledge of local, state, and federal air quality regulations and incentives; Maintain and regularly update website; Convene working groups to address specific regional air quality and energy issues; Compile, analyze, and evaluate program reports and educational materials to provide up-to-date information regarding services to the public; Gather data to identify underserved communities and inform outreach strategies in those areas.
Adhere to contractual obligations and AACOG policies; Interface regularly with local energy efficiency experts in the public and private sector; Build relationships with local, state, and Federal energy management and air quality professionals; Plan projects, workshops, special events and outreach efforts; Conduct public presentations to community leaders, partner agencies and local service organizations; Attend appropriate meetings, workgroups, networking events, conferences, and workshops; Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Desired Degree/Job Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences, Urban Planning, Public Administration/Public Policy, Business Administration, or a related field; At least two (2) years of customer service or related experience, preferably for a governmental entity or non-profit organization involved in the provision of social services programs; Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the aforementioned tasks and functions.
Other Qualifications: Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; Must possess inter-personal, presentation, and public speaking skills; Must possess excellent writing skills for the creation of public documents; Valid driver’s license and insurance coverage; At times, employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle for business purposes, and mileage will be paid in accordance with AACOG reimbursement

Law Enforcement Academy Instructor
This is a responsible non-supervisory position. First line supervisor for peace officer cadets. Facilitates training & participates in solving training problems. Primary contact; ensures cadets adhere to policies & procedures. Facilitates class leadership meetings with Basic Peace Officer Courses. Serves as a Mentor & Advisor; provides one-on-one, group academic & technical counseling. Lead instructor over adjunct instructors. Formulates, researches & develops curriculum for law academy instruction including: Basic Peace Officer Certification training, Basic Corrections Officer Certification training, tactical firearms courses, driving, & intermediate weapons training. Develops methods & tools for assessing & evaluating training effectiveness. Formulates policies & procedures for Reality based & firearm training. Formulates, researches, & develops safety protocols for reality-based training scenarios, police driving, & firearms training. Conducts surveys, audits, and inspections to ensure safety & compliance. On-site Safety Officer Assists in the preparation of BPOC calendars, securing instructors and off-site training locations; Coordinates and instructs in-service classes for the Academy as assigned; Provides rotation of maintenance of academy vehicles, simulators, firearms, and training equipment, and facility upkeep.
Essential Functions: Selects, researches, and develops curriculum for, and conducts law enforcement academy instruction in the following areas of concentration: Basic Peace Officer Certification training, Basic Corrections Officer Certification training, Tactical Firearms courses (basic, intermediate, and advanced), A.S.P. Baton Certification course, Basic Police Driving Certification course, Physical Fitness courses, including participant assessment. Performs other duties as assigned.
Desired Education/Job Experience: High School graduate or its equivalent. Must have Basic TCOLE instructor Certification and have a minimum of five years’ experience as a Texas Peace Officer. TCOLE Intermediate certification or above preferred. Minimum three years’ experience as an instructor with experience developing curriculum. Experience delivering training involving firearms, driving, self-defense, and tactical situations encountered by law enforcement personnel preferred. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, speak before groups, operate a computer, conduct internet research, and utilize basic computer software applications. Knowledge of effective teaching and learning techniques, extensive knowledge of law enforcement principles and practices.

Public Safety Clerk
This is a responsible nonsupervisory position. This position provides primary front desk coverage and reception/switchboard duties, greets visitors, assisting them or directing them to the appropriate individual(s)/program. Proctors and provides administrative support for exams as needed. Updates the AACOG website and Public Safety calendar, ensuring that advisory committee meetings, workshops, minutes, and important information is uploaded and published on the AACOG website platform. Provides reception/switchboard duties, receives incoming telephone calls, determines nature of calls, and transfers to appropriate individual(s) if needed and/or provides information to the customer. Greets visitors, assisting them or directing them to the appropriate individual(s)/program. Maintains an inventory office and project supplies for all programs. Creates and distributes weekly training and event schedules to adjunct instructors and staff.
Essential Functions: Maintains rosters and transcribes meeting minutes for advisory committees. Assists with gathering registration forms, course evaluations, completing certificates, scanning documents, and reporting of classes. Prepares materials for meetings, workshops and mail outs, including making copies of class and grant materials; bind books for classes. Handles incoming e-mails to register customers for in-service training classes and testing. Maintaining AACOG calendar with important dates, including committee meetings, classes, and other events. Area Agency on Aging (AAA) – Care Specialist I
This is a responsible, non-supervisory position requiring familiarity with various
government programs, such as Texas Administrative Code (TAC), Administration for
Community Living (ACL), Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC), Older
Americans Act (OAA) and insurance policies related to the elderly, various rules and
regulations regarding aging program and services; Coordinates referrals for service to
the care coordination program in the region to ensure prescribed needs of client are
carried out in accordance with OAAA/service definitions, and provides technical
assistance and contract management in planning, development and implementation of
programs and services for the elderly in the 13 counties of the AAA.
Duties include conducting in person or over the phone assessments; Tracking and
verifying expenditures on encumbered activity spreadsheet; Coordinate services with
providers, vendors, and agencies; Providing resource information or referrals to elderly
clients and /or their family members through the documents intake of clients information
in physical or electronic records (Peer Place database or equivalent) client assessment,
service plan development, arrangement of necessary case and services follow-up and
ongoing monitoring of clients’ status, which may include making home visits,
determining eligibility, assessing hours for personal care and coordinating with
contracted vendors; Providing information and referral, legal services, crisis counseling
and services necessary to stabilize a situation for elderly clients and /or family members
on a short-term basis; Maintaining confidential case records that may include client
data, documentation of services in a physical and electronic record client tracking
system and completes related daily, weekly, monthly and yearly reports as required;
Assisting care coordinator, AAA managers and director in tracking monthly program
expenditures for care coordination program budget categories, such as income support,
health maintenance, residential repair and personal assistance; completes check
request vouchers; Assists care coordinator in invoices are reconciled at a minimum
quarterly basis; Attending meetings, conferences, workshops and other in-service
training programs related to the care coordination program; Facilitates family caregiver
support groups as needed; AAA Senior Advisory Committee and local services
agencies/organizations, subcontractors and the elderly within the region regarding care
coordination program; Adheres to quality assurance plan, policies and procedures per
internal and external agencies; Properly documents time in ADP or its equivalent.
Tracks and assist in all expenditures monthly; Monitors, evaluates and provides
technical assistance to vendors regarding services delivery to the elderly in order to
assure appropriate and quality of care; Position requires long distance driving to rural
areas; Traveling to remote, isolated areas may be necessary for conducting
assessment work with older Texans; Staff should have comfort level in performing
necessary work in private households with diverse and confined populations; At times,
employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle for business purposes, and
mileage will be paid in accordance with AACOG reimbursement policy; Perform other
job related duties as assigned.
Required Education/ Job Experience:
High School Diploma, GED, or any equivalent
combination of experience or training which provides knowledge, skill and abilities.

Veteran Care Specialist
This is a responsible, non-supervisory position requiring familiarity with various veterans/government programs. Veterans Care Specialist support eligible veterans enrolled in the Veterans Directed Care (VDC) program by providing comprehensive case management and care coordination services that promote independence, choice, and quality of life. This role works directly with veterans and their caregivers to develop person centered care plans, and ensure services are delivered in a manner that aligns with program requirements and veteran directed care principles.
The Veterans Care Specialist conducts assessments, coordinates and monitors authorized services, and supports veterans in directing their own care, including working with caregivers and personal care attendants as applicable. The position requires consistent follow-up to ensure services remain appropriate, effective, and compliant with Veterans Affairs guidelines and organizational policies. Accurate and timely documentation is a core responsibility, along with identifying and escalating risks, service gaps, or compliance concerns. In this role, the Veterans Care Specialist serves as a liaison between veterans, caregivers, VA partners, and the fiscal management service provider. The position also involves educating veterans and caregivers on program rules, responsibilities, and allowable services, while navigating complex care needs with professionalism, empathy, and sound judgment.
Desired Education/Job Experience: High School Graduate with some college in social work, human services, or a related field, along with at least two years of experience in case management, veterans services, or long-term services and supports. Experience working with veterans, older adults, or individuals with disabilities is essential.
Other Qualifications: A valid Texas driver’s license and the ability to travel within the service area are required; Individual must demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills, along with experience in electronic case management systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Work is performed in a combination of office, community, and remote settings, and flexibility in scheduling may be required to meet program and veteran needs. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish/English preferred but not required.

IDD Services Coordinator I
This is a responsible, non-supervisory position in a fast paced environment. Duties include performing intake duties or enrollment activities to determine diagnostic and financial eligibility for HCS, General Revenue, Texas Home Living, or Preadmission Screening and Resident Review program services; Community First Choice program services; development, implementation and monitoring of the Plan of Services and Supports through assessment, site based visits and collateral telephone contacts; requires linking and coordinating services through available community resources, waiver and local service providers and nursing facilities. This is a high volume case documentation position which requires timely and accurate documentation and extensive travel within Bexar County. Prefer knowledge of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (Autism/ Pervasive Developmental Disorder) services and funding sources and the ability to operate basic software.
Desired Degree/Job Experience: Prefer experience in case management or social services work; Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s or advanced degree, or an associate degree with major coursework in social, behavioral, human services or health-related field, or a high school diploma or GED and two years of paid or unpaid experience with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities is required, as defined in Texas Administrative Code, Title 26, and Rule 331.17; Prefer ability to meet specific requirements of Title 42, CFR, Section 483.430; May require Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP) credential;

Drivers (Temporary)
These are responsible non-supervisory positions. Duties include operating and maintaining transportation vehicles with a focus on safety and customer courtesy; performing daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections; performing minor maintenance tasks on the vehicles when necessary; fueling the vehicles: assisting passengers and handicapped customers in and out of the vehicle; providing safety briefing to customers; and providing other services as required.
Prefer customer service and previous driving experience. Prefer High school or G.E.D.; must be a minimum of 21 years of age; possess and maintain a safe driving record plus one (1) year of previous driving experience. Prefer customer service experience and Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement. Non-smoker. Reliable transportation required.
