The Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG) will be hosting a virtual workshop for local governments interested in applying for solid waste grant funding for fiscal years 2026 and 2027.

This workshop is mandatory for anyone planning to submit a grant application during this cycle.

AACOG has been awarded solid waste grant funds through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to support projects that reduce the amount of waste entering our regional landfills. For the FY2026–2027 grant cycle, a total of $817,200 has been allocated to our region — $408,600 for FY2026 and $408,600 for FY2027. Out of these funds, $180,000 per year is set aside specifically for local implementation projects.

Eligible projects should demonstrate a direct and measurable impact on waste reduction — either by diverting materials from the municipal solid waste stream for beneficial use or by cutting down waste generation at the source.
