Alamo Regional Transit (ART) provides public transportation solutions tailored for each community we serve in the non-urbanized areas of Atascosa, Bandera, Comal, Frio, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, Medina, McMullen, and Wilson counties.
Available Services
Flex Route Service
ART’s Flex Route Service provides the convenience of a fixed route public transit service with the added benefit of reaching destinations slightly off the main route.
ART’s Flex Route Service provides the convenience of a fixed route public transit service with the added benefit of reaching destinations slightly off the main route. Buses operate on a fixed schedule and route with designated stops, but they will deviate up to ¼ of a mile off route to pick up or drop off passengers who request it.
Scheduling a deviation: Riders must request any deviation in advance. To schedule a ride, call the ART Dispatch Center at 866-889-7433. Deviations are usually limited in number and limited in scope to avoid significant delays for other passengers.
ART’s buses are equipped to transport wheelchairs and other mobility devices, ensuring accessibility for individuals with disabilities.

Advanced Demand Response
This is an advanced reservation shared ride service providing curb to curb service.
ART’s Advanced Demand Response service is an advanced reservation, shared ride service, providing curb to curb service. ART operates demand response services Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The fares for ART’s Demand Response services vary based on the distance and number of county lines crossed:
- $2.00 within town
- $6.00 for out of town trips within the same county
- $8.00 for trips crossing one county line
- $12.00 for trips crossing two or more county lines

Pronto Same Day Service
Pronto service uses our smartphone app to provide same day, under 30 minute response time, shared rides within a designated service area.
Pronto is ART’s premium same day micro transit service, available in Kerrville and Seguin, Texas. Designed for flexibility and convenience, Pronto allows riders to schedule, manage, cancel, or rebook trips directly from the ART Mobility App on their smartphone. The fares for ART’s Pronto Service is $4.00 each way. With extended service hours (including early mornings, evenings, and weekends), Pronto provides riders with more flexibility to travel at their convenience. This same day functionality and flexibility make it an ideal solution for quick local trips within each city.

Special Transportation Services
Intended to fill gaps that traditional public transportation may not cover.
Special Events:
ART’s Special Transportation Service provides transportation to community events that occur seasonally where ART’s services are not otherwise available. If you have any questions, please contact ART at mobility@aacog.gov or contact ART’s reservation center Monday through Friday 7am to 6pm at (210) 870-4989 or 866-889-7433.
Youth Transportation:
ART’s Youth Transportation Service is intended to fill gaps that the traditional school bus system may not cover. Once a request is submitted, ART will evaluate the request and notify you if ART can accommodate your request or request additional information. If you are interested in our Youth Transportation service, please download the Youth Transportation Request form and email it to mobility@aacog.gov. Senior Transportation Program:
The Senior Transportation Program offers safe, affordable rides, often free of charge, to help older adults remain independent. Seniors can access meal sites, medical visits, shopping, and community activities without worrying about transportation barriers. This service keeps seniors active, connected, and engaged in daily activities.

Rides for Texas Heroes (R4TXH):
R4TXH provides free, reliable transportation for veterans across AACOG’s 13 county region. The program helps veterans get to medical appointments, access vital services, and stay connected to their community.

Regionally Coordinated Transportation Planning is a collaborative process that brings together transit providers, public service agencies, local governments, and community partners to improve the efficiency and reach of public transportation across a region.

It exists to reduce duplication of services, generate cost saving efficiencies, and ensure that funding is used effectively to meet the greatest needs.
The purpose of regional coordination planning is to:
- Identify transportation providers in the region
- Pinpoint service gaps, barriers, and community needs
- Outline how agencies can work together to coordinate services
- Identify projects and sources of funding
Key goals include:
- Improving the effectiveness of advisory committees
- Developing strategies to improve service and increase ridership
- Ensuring that projects are sustainable and can grow with demand
- Regional coordination ensures that transit systems, especially in rural or underserved areas, are aligned with local needs and positioned to secure and maximize funding for future service.

ART drivers will wait for 10 minutes after arrival. Once you have boarded the bus, pay the driver the exact fare and you are on your way to your destination! Please note that drivers are not allowed to give change or enter the customer’s home.

What is the Regional Transit Coordination Committee (RTCC), and what is its role?
The Regional Transit Coordination Committee (RTCC) is a regional advisory body that supports coordination among transportation providers, health and human service agencies, and local governments. Its role is to guide the development of a seamless, efficient, and accessible public transit system by identifying regional needs, closing service gaps, and fostering collaboration. The RTCC meets regularly to evaluate progress on the Regionally Coordinated Transportation Plan, engage partners, and ensure compliance with state and federal requirements. The committee also maintains an active member roster and submits annual performance reports to TxDOT and the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI).
